  New Zealand Native Pohutukawa Seeds

Description

New Zealand Native Pohutukawa Seeds - The Pohutukawa holds a special place in New Zealander's hearts covering itself with a profusion of scarlet nectar-laden flowers at Christmas time.

Pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa) - New Zealand's Christmas Tree

In Maori folklore it is said that when a person dies the spirit journeys to the tip of New Zealand's North Island, Cape Reinga (the Place of Leaping)and there, finds an old Pohutukawa with one bleached branch projecting over the water. Here the spirit clings before slipping into the underworld. A coastal tree by nature untroubled by the wildest gale, it makes a robust hedge, shelter belt for a coastal garden or novel patio plant. Height up to 15 metres. Packet contains approx. 50 seeds.
