This beautiful paperweight is a combination of flame worked fish, seaweed and murrinis which were made by using a bench burner to produce the intricate details, the fishes alone having up to twenty additions of glass colour. These parts were then reheated and included in the paperweight, together with the murrinis (decorative detail), between several layers of clear molten glass from the furnace to produce the mass and dimensional effect. Finally the piece was blown to introduce the interior rock effect. After annealing, the paperweight was ground, polished, dated and signed by the artist.
