Established in 1981, Snowy Peak Ltd pioneered the use of possum fibre blended with Merino wool in 1992 and have perfected the technique in their Merinomink™ collections, creating the most beautiful light, soft and durable fabrics, knitted garments and accessories. Merinomink™ is an exclusive blend of 100% natural fibres - fine Merino wool and luxurious Brushtail Possum fibre, blended with silk for strength, and with angora added for lighter colours.

Merinomink™ is unique in that it has featherweight softness and is incredibly warm, due to the hollow structure of the Brushtail Possum fibre, which traps air both within the fibre and in the fabric when blended with high crimp, fine Merino. The fibre has no scales, so resists pilling and has outstanding durability and excellent performance characteristics.

You will get years of life from your Possum fur and merino wool garment. As well as incredible softness and warmth the yarn is strong and durable. Possum fur is 16 to 17 micron (very fine) and when blended with fine Merino wool ensures a luxurious and soft handle to the fabric.

Each garment is made individually to exacting quality standards, from fur selection through to yarn development and finally garment construction, at Snowy Peak Limited premises in Christchurch, New Zealand and sold in boutiques and prestigious department stores across Australia, North America, Europe and Asia.
